The Result (the good stuff first)
The new Solar2030 e.V. website is faster, mobile-friendly, and much easier to navigate. The refreshed design feels clear and professional while staying true to their existing brand. Volunteers now find it simple to update and maintain, and feedback from the team has been overwhelmingly positive.
The Problem
Solar2030 e.V. is a Munich-based nonprofit working to put solar power on as many city rooftops as possible by 2030. Their old Wordpress site built with Elementor was slow, cluttered, and hard to navigate—especially on mobile. Content had become overwhelming, typography inconsistent, and the brand colors made readability difficult. With rebranding off the table, the challenge was to elevate the existing identity without changing the logo.
The Approach
After a full audit and volunteer survey, I identified key performance and UX issues. We moved from Elementor to Blocksy for better performance and easier editing. I refined the color palette for accessibility, introduced new fonts with clear hierarchy, and reorganized the homepage and navigation to focus on core goals and CTAs.
On the technical side, I cleaned up the database and removed bloated plugins, leading to major speed improvements. I also documented all design and technical decisions, created training videos, and added resources to their wiki so future volunteers could maintain consistency.
Lindsey helped our photovoltaic and renewable energy initiative Solar2030.de to bring our website to the next level and focus on mobile users. Her structured approach, profound UX knowledge and technical expertise were key to a successful relaunch. Thanks to her commitment and patience with us volunteers, all hurdles were overcome and special requests were implemented. Lindsey is a top performer who achieves great results even under time pressure. Many thanks!-Marc Rieger, Solar2030 e.V.
